Senior Center Without Walls

Hosts phone and online groups that provide opportunities for older adults to connect socially from the comfort of their own homes.

OUTCOME DETAILS
Senior Center Without Walls has been tracking demographic information and participant feedback since its inception in 2004. In addition to regular communication with participants and volunteers, SCWW additionally administers an annual Participant Survey. In 2017, the Participant Survey garnered the following results from 110 participants (15%): SCWW has improved the following areas of my life: Intellectual stimulation – 83%, Social connections – 76%, Feeling valued – 66%, Improved mental health – 63%, Provided critical resources – 51%, Improved physical health – 35%, 47% participate weekly, and 28% participate daily, 85% believe that SCWW has improved the quality of their lives, 64% believe that SCWW has helped them remain independent.

SOCIAL ISOLATION OR CONNECTION MEASURES USED
Senior Center Without Walls has anecdotal evidence based on the Participant Surveys. In 2018, SCWW will be administering a Loneliness Scale at the point of program registration and will be tracking participant responses incrementally.

LOCATION & FUNDING
The Senior Center Without Walls office is located at 881 Turk Street, San Francisco, CA 94102. Senior Center Without Walls is funded by the Episcopal Senior Communities Foundation, grants, contributions from individual donors, and tremendous volunteer support. This allows individuals to engage with Senior Center Without Walls at no cost to them.
