Volunteers call seniors who would benefit from a friend and someone to speak with on a regular basis

We are targeting shut-ins of any age, but are focusing on older adults in their homes and in need of socialization. They do not have to live alone but feel they would benefit from a friend and someone to speak with on a regular basis.

OUTCOME DETAILS
As the program is still within its first year of implementation, we ask the callers and recipients to fill out a brief questionnaire asking about the experience. They typically respond back claiming they feel a great sense of socialization and connectedness to the outside world as a result of the calls. Also, the caller responds with the same response.
